Euskadi has registered 1,042,680 Social Security affiliates this past May, an increase of 6,813 compared to the previous month, representing a 0.66% rise. These figures were released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migrations. In year-on-year terms, affiliation in the Basque Autonomous Community has grown by 13,531 workers compared to May 2025, a 1.31% increase.
Nationwide, Social Security saw a 1.05% monthly increase in affiliation in May, with 231,975 more affiliates. Year-on-year, the growth was 2.54%, adding 553,431 contributors, bringing the total to 22,337,806 affiliates.
Of the total contributors in Euskadi, 525,051 are in Bizkaia, where affiliation increased by 3,215 people compared to the previous month (+0.62%) and grew by 6,974 compared to May 2025 (+1.35%). Gipuzkoa, with 344,396 contributors, recorded a monthly rise of 1,507 Social Security affiliates (+0.44%) and a year-on-year growth of 2,756 affiliates (+0.81%).
Finally, Araba, with 173,233 affiliated workers, experienced a monthly increase of 2,091 affiliates in May (+1.22%) and has seen a rise of 3,800 contributors compared to a year ago (+2.24%).
Across Euskadi, the general regime of Social Security has 871,932 contributors, of whom 27,747 are registered as domestic workers and 2,769 as agricultural workers. Additionally, 166,830 individuals are enrolled in the self-employed regime and 3,918 in the maritime workers' regime.
Furthermore, at the end of May, there were 565 workers in Euskadi under temporary employment regulation files (ERTE), 66 fewer than at the end of April. Of these, 384 are men and 181 are women.
