This weekend, the iconic Vizcaya Bridge will serve as the venue for the I Conference on Technical Rescue in Bizkaia. The event will feature various technical and operational activities focused on specialized rescue, establishing itself as a reference point for the dissemination and practice of advanced emergency procedures.
As detailed by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, this is a pioneering event in Euskadi, bringing together specialists from emergency and rescue services from across the state to participate in diverse high-angle rescue maneuvers and exercises.
Organizers stated, "The event will mark the first experience of its kind organized in Euskadi and will place Bizkaia among the select group of European territories that hold technical rescue meetings in unique urban settings." Both days will include complementary activities aimed at technical knowledge exchange, specialized training, and promoting the work of emergency services.
Furthermore, visitors to the banks of Portugalete and Getxo will have the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of the operation and preparation of rescue teams. The initiative will also highlight the importance of coordination, innovation, and safety in complex emergency interventions.
The conferences are organized by the Rope Technical Rescue Association Euskadi (ARTCE-SETSE), in collaboration with the Prevention, Firefighting, and Rescue Service (SPEIS) of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. They also receive institutional and logistical support from the city councils of Getxo and Portugalete, and the Vizcaya Bridge.
