The Ertzaintza has arrested a 53-year-old woman in Bizkaia, accused of stealing jewelry and over 8,000 euros from an elderly couple by exploiting their vulnerable condition.

A caregiver, aged 53, has been arrested by the Ertzaintza on suspicion of stealing jewelry and making fraudulent charges and withdrawals from a bank card belonging to an elderly couple. The woman, who worked in the victims' home, allegedly took advantage of their vulnerability to commit the thefts.
The investigation began following a complaint filed in late April. The couple reported missing several gold items, including pendants, rings, earrings, a bracelet, and a watch. Additionally, they noticed unauthorized charges and cash withdrawals from ATMs using their bank card, totaling over 8,000 euros.
Inquiries conducted by the Laudio police station led to the identification of the perpetrator as a woman who worked as a caregiver for the victims. The Ertzaintza has confirmed that the stolen jewelry had already been sold in second-hand shops and gold and jewelry buying establishments, primarily located in Bizkaia.
The suspect was arrested on Monday afternoon and, after the completion of police procedures, has been placed at the disposal of judicial authorities. The Ertzaintza continues to investigate these incidents.
