The Silver Film Festival, scheduled from April 20 to 24 in Bilbao, will delve into the themes of love and sexuality among individuals over 55 years old, aiming to break down existing stereotypes.

The new edition of the Silver Film Festival, set to run from April 20 to 24, 2026, in Bilbao, has been publicly presented. This international film festival for those over 55 has chosen "Love&Sex (ageless)" as its central theme. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch films such as Dorados 50, Maspalomas, Mi amiga Eva, 80 egunean, and El placer es mío, alongside various discussions and interviews.
Short and feature films from the festival will be screened at prominent venues including the Guggenheim Museum, Sala BBK, and the Ensanche Building. Nerea Melgosa, the Minister of Welfare, Youth, and Demographic Challenge, highlighted the festival's significant role in challenging stereotypes related to older adults.

"The work of the Silver Film Festival has been impressive, and this film festival has become a benchmark both in Euskadi and abroad. Little by little, stereotypes related to older people are being broken, and the role of cinema in this regard is immeasurable."

The Directorate of Community Action and Promotion of the Third Social Sector, part of the Department of Welfare, Youth, and Demographic Challenge of the Basque Government, has collaborated in the festival's organization, which has received a nominative subsidy of 35,000 euros.

"Physical and emotional intimacy helps us stay active, optimistic, and with healthy self-esteem. Both love and sex contribute to our mental and physical health, fostering happiness, balance, and a sense of belonging. It is time to banish the misconception that these aspects of life are a source of shame or should be hidden. On the contrary, we must assert the right of older people to fully live their emotions and desires. Love and sex are not only privileges of youth, but an essential part of human existence at all stages of life."
