Vitoria-Gasteiz's La Florida park resonated with African rhythms this Saturday during the ninth edition of the Afrika Gasteiz festival.

The event, aimed at bringing the diversity of the African continent closer to local residents, offered music, dance, and fashion. Once again, the kiosk in La Florida served as a meeting point for cultures.
The dance competition featured six groups performing various musical styles to African rhythms, including urban dance, afro, lively hip hop funk, and afro Basque dance. The groups showcased their skills to a jury of three judges, who will award a first prize of €300 and a second prize of €150.
Favorable weather allowed dozens of people to enjoy a wide range of dance performances, from the youngest to the oldest attendees. A DJ also performed from the shade of the kiosk.
The program also included a fashion show highlighting the richness and diversity of traditional African and Basque attire. Later in the afternoon, live concerts concluded the day, with notable performances by a Sahrawi group and the Senegalese singer Zee Leloum.
Currently, 13,998 people of African origin reside in Álava. This festival aims to build a bridge between the African community and their neighbors, while also serving as a showcase for the continent's diversity and the richness of its diaspora.
