The National Police have arrested five individuals across several locations in Bizkaia, seizing a consignment of nearly 300 kilograms of speed and a substantial amount of cash, in a significant anti-drug trafficking operation.

Officers from the National Police have apprehended five people in various towns within Bizkaia, confiscating a shipment of almost 300 kilograms of high-quality speed, along with a considerable sum of cash. Authorities have identified the group as a criminal organization dedicated to trafficking large quantities of narcotics, emphasizing that this operation is one of the largest against this particular substance. The investigation was led by the Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office.
The police operation took place in March, with officers seizing the majority of the consignment in Mungia, the town from which the merchandise was being transported. During this phase of the operation, National Police agents received support from the Special Operations Group (GEO), leading to the arrest of three individuals.
Following the interception of the illicit substance, officers requested judicial authorization to enter and search four properties in Bilbao and Galdakao. Inside these premises, an additional 6.5 kilograms of amphetamine sulfate, 300 grams of cocaine, and 700 grams of hashish were discovered, all prepared for sale, alongside various amounts of euros and US dollars. The day after the searches, two more individuals linked to the drug transport, who had initially evaded police action, were arrested.

The detainees were inside one of the homes when officers gained entry. The alleged criminals were arrested, and the seized substances, which could have reached a value of 15 million euros on the black market, were stored in boxes and bags.

According to spokespersons from the Ministry of Interior, in parallel to the arrests, the assets of those under investigation have been preventively frozen, and orders have been issued to block all their bank accounts.
