Mendibil Park in Irun will be filled with music this coming Sunday, October 4th, for the closing event of the twelfth edition of the Girabira program.

The event, jointly organized by the Irun City Council and Txikis del Bidasoa under the slogan "Musika, parkeak, ekin! / Music, parks, action!", offers a thematic journey through the city's parks, combining performances, workshops, and picnics.
Nuria Alzaga, deputy mayor and delegate for Culture, along with representatives from Txikis del Bidasoa, Ekoetxea Txingudi, Marte Laborategia, and Skola Musik, highlighted that Girabira "invites us to rediscover spaces that are part of our daily lives and experience them in a different way. Our parks are also places where children grow, meet friends, and build memories linked to their city".
After twelve editions, "children are growing up with these afternoons in our parks: a blanket on the grass, a snack, meeting friends, participating in workshops, or enjoying a performance together. These are childhood memories linked to Irun, and I believe that also builds the city. This time, we do it with music as the protagonist and in Mendibil, a space particularly linked to it due to the proximity of the Conservatory, thus closing a new edition bringing culture, connection, and life to our parks", added the delegate.
In this third and final Girabira Txikimusika event, the day will kick off at 12:30 PM in Mendibil Park and will run until approximately 5:00 PM, featuring a family concert, picnic, music workshops, and a participatory batucada.
In case of rain, the event will proceed with an alternative plan to be announced if necessary.
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM | Start: Family Concert
The day will begin with a concert by the group Swingtronics, blending swing with contemporary electronic beats, turning the performance into a dance floor for all ages.
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM | Picnic
Girabira encourages participants to bring their own picnic to enjoy in the park. Additionally, a tavern will offer drinks and snacks.
2:30 PM - 4:30 PM | Music Workshops
As is customary, children's workshops will be a highlight. Led by Skola Musik, Taupa! Musikarekin Hazten, Marte Sorkuntza Laborategia, and Ekoetxea Txingudi, children can explore music-related activities in Basque, with free participation.
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM | Participatory Batucada
To conclude the day, Skola Musik will lead a batucada open to everyone, where participants can practice rhythms and use instruments created during the workshops.
