This Wednesday, at 10:00 AM, they occupied the entity's customer service office in Irun. The Ertzaintza arrived and, after 20 minutes, an agreement was reached for the workers to leave the office peacefully.
Following this, they attended a press conference scheduled by the Irun City Council at the Santiago fronton, staging another noisy protest. This action mirrored their protest on Monday at the City Hall, where they demanded an end to the strike that has lasted over five months.
The company, for the moment, will not make statements regarding the incident, maintaining its current stance.
The company committee, represented by ELA union, states that no agreement has been reached because the company "persists in imposing a model based on economic punishment for workers on Temporary Incapacity (I.T.)", "intends to penalize those who fall ill", and "wants to become the judge of workers' illnesses".
The statement also refers to the mayor of Irun, Cristina Laborda, and the mayor of Hondarribia, Igor Enparan, who "support the proposal that keeps negotiations blocked". It adds that "if this is the case, they are as responsible as the management itself for the conflict remaining open".
Finally, the committee demands the withdrawal of "an unfair proposal" and urges the mayors to decide whether they stand with "respect for workers' rights or with those who want to punish those who fall ill".
