Bidasoa announced on Friday the departure of its young Polish talent Piotr Mielczarski, who will sign for Limoges for three seasons. The French club is currently fourth in the French League, where he will play alongside Jon Azkue under the guidance of Alberto Entrerríos.
The player, a product of Bursa Pulawy's youth academy, concludes a one-year stint in Irun, preceded by another year in Guadalajara on loan from Bidasoa, who initially signed him from SMS Kielce.
He began his career brightly in Guadalajara, where he played alongside his compatriot and fellow Bidasoa loanee, Jakub Sladkowski. Towards the end of the season, he became a key player in the team's survival.
Following the plan set by the sports management, Mielczarski joined the senior team in the summer. His progress and the departure of Tito Díaz have established him as one of the two left-back players, alongside Mario Nevado.
After this move, it will be decided in the coming weeks whether Bidasoa will promote a youth player to the left-back position or make a new signing. The club recently announced the arrival of Miguel Ángel Martín.
This season, Mielczarski has delivered several notable performances, particularly in European competitions, scoring 40 goals in 10 matches. He was instrumental with six goals in the comeback against Saint-Raphaël VAR and scored 13 goals against Montpellier across both games.
While playing for the Polish national team during the international break, his performances since returning to club competition after the European exit have not been as strong, though his contribution is considered vital for Bidasoa to achieve its European objectives.
The young Polish player is set to be the replacement for Ihor Turchenko at left-back, who will join Nantes this summer. There, he will reunite with Kauldi Odriozola and Imanol Garciandia.
The Asobal league is increasingly becoming an attractive market for young foreign talent, given the growing competition from the Bundesliga for French talent. This opens up opportunities in the second-tier European league.
