The Traditional Alarde of Irun has selected its new General Staff, with Javier García Nieto, who was appointed captain less than a month ago, taking the lead. This appointment comes after the resignation of the previous general, Asier Etxepare, and his commander, Rubén Fraile, due to disagreements over the handling of a disciplinary file against an officer for “inappropriate conduct” with a cantinera.
Within this new team, Javier Urroz has been promoted to Infantry Commander. Urroz was previously an Aide to the General Staff in the former command team, a position now to be filled by Iñaki Salaverría. Additionally, Imanol Celihueta will serve as Infantry Aide and Javier San Matías as Cavalry Aide. The new Order Bugler is Kimetz Esnaola. The new Artillery Aide is yet to be announced to complete the entire General Staff.
The new commanders have already assumed their roles with the clear objective of ensuring that the Traditional Alarde proceeds as planned on June 30. These appointments follow the resignations of the previous leaders, which were prompted by the opposition of at least eight captains who disagreed with the management of the disciplinary process.
In the coming weeks, the elections for the cantineras of the different companies for the next Traditional Alarde are expected to begin, alongside other related events such as the Alardealdia.
