Every June 30th, the town of Irun celebrates the traditional arms parade in honor of San Marcial, commemorating the victory of local troops over French forces in 1522.

The day is marked by the sound of fifes and drums, accompanied by the synchronized firing of thousands of muskets. Participants march through the streets of Irun wearing specific uniforms, consisting of white shirts and trousers, red berets, and sashes, which vary depending on the military unit.
The parade heads towards the mountain of San Marcial, where a large pilgrimage takes place. For over a decade, the event has been split into two parades: the traditional alarde, with around 8,000 participants where women take part as cantineras, and the mixed parade, with 2,000 participants, where women can also join as musketeers or musicians.
