The 24th edition of the Hondarribia International Guitar Festival is set to take place from April 29 to May 3, featuring six concerts across the Kultur Etxea, Oiasso Museum, and Parador Carlos V.

This year's festival will host six performances scheduled between April 29 and May 3. Most recitals will be held at the Kultur Etxea starting at 7:00 PM, with free admission. Tickets can be obtained via the Kutxabank website and in person at Arma Plaza. For the events in Irun, passes will be available on the Oiasso Museum's website and at the box office.
The festival's artistic director, Carles Pons, will open the event on Wednesday, April 29, with a solo concert. The Catalan musician boasts an extensive international career, having performed in countries such as the USA, Brazil, and Serbia. For his performance at the Kultur Etxea, Pons will interpret pieces by renowned composers like Isaac Albéniz and Francisco Tárrega, alongside his own compositions.
On April 30, the trio In Breve will present a program divided into four parts: classical, opera, jazz, and film music, featuring well-known pieces from the musical heritage. The group comprises Igor Kiritchenko (cello), Frédéric Bernard (guitar), and Eric Franceries (guitar), and has garnered critical acclaim for their seasoned performances.
For the festive day of May 1, Italian guitarist Mattia Dugheri will offer a repertoire with a distinct Italian flair, including works by composers such as Niccoló Paganini and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Despite his youth, Dugheri has won numerous national and international competitions as a soloist.
The event on Saturday, May 2, promises to be one of the festival's highlights, as a guitar orchestra formed by students from the Hondarribiko Musikal Eskola will perform four well-known Basque cultural songs: Ala Baita, Arantzazura, Zorabiatua Naiz, and Alabatua. Following this, the duo Itxkey, consisting of Ecuadorian Ana Albán and Mexican Fabián Martínez, will present their repertoire focused on Latin American composers.
On the final day of the festival, May 3, activities will move outside the Kultur Etxea with two concerts. At midday, musicians Manuel Toucinho and Pedro Rufino (father and son) will perform at the Oiasso Roman Museum as part of the Musika Museoan initiative. In the afternoon, Italian guitarist Antonio Molfetta will close this edition at the Hondarribia Parador.
