Hondarribia Airport Sees Slight Passenger Increase in May, Year-on-Year Figures Remain Similar

The Hondarribia airport concluded May with 46,746 travelers, a 1.8% improvement over last year, despite minimal year-to-date growth.

The Hondarribia airport is managing to slightly improve upon its 2025 passenger figures this year. In May, the Gipuzkoa aerodrome handled 46,746 travelers, representing a 1.8% increase compared to the same month last year. However, the year-to-date cumulative figures (January to May) show minimal growth in 2026, with only about 60 additional passengers (a 0.03% increase), essentially mirroring last year's numbers.
Regarding operations at the Gipuzkoa airport's runway, May saw 681 takeoffs and landings, a 0.3% increase from May of the previous year. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 2,309 movements have been recorded, which is 1% less than in the same period last year. On the other hand, passenger traffic reached 179,066 travelers, 60 more than in the first five months of 2025, when the total was 179,006.
Meanwhile, Bilbao airport surpassed 740,000 passengers in a single month for the first time last May, setting a new record. Loiu continues to achieve milestones and grow strongly ahead of what is expected to be a record-breaking summer.
