This year marks the festival's second edition, following last year's success. In the inaugural event, artists painted a mural on the school wall in the Gurutzalde neighborhood. This year, artists from various parts of the Basque Country will participate, including creators from Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Araba, and Navarra.
Andoni Ortiz, a member of Aztarna Muralismo, explained that they aim to revive the essence of graffiti, giving prominence particularly to artists who focus on lettering, although illustration and drawing styles will also be present.
One of the festival's objectives is to overcome prejudices surrounding graffiti. Ortiz highlighted that graffiti should not necessarily be linked to vandalism, as many artists use it to beautify their surroundings and express their identity. Therefore, the Mila Koloredun Jaia will be open to all citizens, especially children, to experience street art up close and discover another avenue for artistic creation.
