Orozko will host its traditional agricultural and livestock fair this Saturday, with Azpigorri goats and Basque mountain horses as the main attractions.

The festive day, organized by the municipality to highlight local products and native breeds, will feature two special championships: the II Basque Country Mountain Horse Championship at 10:00 AM and the III Bizkaia Azpigorri Championship at 11:00 AM.
The mayor of the town, Aitor Iza, explains that "this event requires effort, but above all brings satisfaction, because ultimately it means working on the origins of this town, representing our values, culture, and giving a boost to the primary sector, which is much needed in this increasingly industrialized society".
The championships will involve selecting different types of livestock within these breeds based on age, measurements, heights, and colors, adhering to the genetic profile required for these animal varieties. They will be divided into categories: younger horses, mares, and finally, stallions.
Following the equine competition, a tasting will take place, and awards for both contests will be presented at 2:00 PM. "The aim of these championships is to add value and preserve the native breed prototype, both for the mountain horse and the Azpigorri, which were once at risk of extinction," the mayor detailed.
Additionally, the City Council announces special promotions for shoppers: "For every 30 euros spent, a gift composed of products from the market itself will be given, while supplies last, and all purchases will enter a raffle for local product baskets."
In the afternoon, at 5:10 PM, the fronton of Orozko will host a major hand-pelota festival featuring the quarterfinals of the San Fermín tournament. "It's a very nice event that we believe is important, and that's why we are promoting it from the Town Hall," stated the mayor.
