The Deportivo Alavés women's team, known as the Gloriosas, has achieved promotion to Liga F after a convincing 0-4 victory over Europa, culminating an exceptional season and returning to the top flight of women's football.

The squad, led by coach Andrea Esteban, secured their objective last Saturday, with two matchdays remaining in the championship. Esteban, who arrived in Vitoria in the summer of 2023, has successfully consolidated a project that has been slowly developed in the Primera Federación Femenina, following two previous unsuccessful attempts to return the team to the elite.

"It's a moment where you have to show respect to the opponent, but I'm happy, very happy. It was the match we expected, because we knew they were going to come to win, and that made it an open duel, allowing us to play it the way that suits us best. My players have been very focused until the end, I'm very happy."

Immediately after the final whistle, Esteban demonstrated a lesson in respect and camaraderie by approaching to console the coaching staff of Europa, who confirmed their relegation to the third division after the Vitoria team's dominant win. Later, with a smile, she praised her players' concentration and performance.
Dafne Treviño, the sports director of the Alavés women's structure and whom Esteban described as “the architect of the project,” was visibly emotional. Treviño highlighted the three years of hard work and the unconditional support from the club and fans, stating that the team deserves to be in the elite. Despite the disappointment of not achieving promotion at Mendizorroza the previous week, she applauded the team's resilience and their current achievement.

"I just want to cry, this is amazing. It's amazing, because of what it implies, because of everyone's hard work. I believe this club deserves to be in the elite, because the work is brutal, the support is unconditional, and honestly, I'm happy for everyone. Especially for the club and all the people who follow us."

For her part, Esteban gathered the entire squad and coaching staff to thank them for their efforts throughout the season. She reiterated that watching the players train is “a spectacle” and urged them to celebrate the promotion “like never before,” together and with their people.
