Vitoria-Gasteiz will host the IV Krisare Forum on May 8 and 9 at the Europa Congress Palace, an event designed to reflect on the role of silence in the face of injustice.

The gathering will bring together experts from social, legal, theological, and journalistic fields to foster debate on indifference, exclusion, and the violation of rights. This year's edition, under the motto “The Silence that Condemns – Isilik geratzearen eragina,” invites attendees to analyze what happens when silence or looking away becomes part of social normality.
The Krisare Forum has established itself as a key space for dialogue and reflection in the capital of Álava. For its fourth edition, the program will once again focus on social and ethical issues, with interventions aimed at analyzing silence at both personal and institutional levels. Over two days, the Europa auditorium will host presentations, testimonies, and meetings with diverse profiles, all connected by a shared perspective on human dignity, memory, justice, and collective responsibility.
One of the main novelties of the Krisare Forum 2026 will be the Gazte Foroa, a specific space for young people that will gather over 300 participants. This initiative, promoted by the Ehunbide Foundation, will focus on bullying and dynamics of exclusion in educational and social environments. The objective is to open a space for conversation and participation where young people can share experiences, identify situations of harassment, and reflect on the need to not remain silent in the face of such realities.
Among the confirmed speakers are Imanol Zubero, sociologist and professor at UPV/EHU; Carlos Gil, biblical scholar and professor of New Testament at the University of Deusto; Pepa Torres, theologian and activist; Paco Etxeberria, forensic anthropologist; and Manuela Carmena, judge and former mayor of Madrid. Also participating will be Teresa Aranguren, a journalist specializing in the Middle East, and Patuca Fernández Vicens, a lawyer expert in childhood, migration, and social exclusion.
Those interested in attending can register through the Krisare website. The organization has announced that places are limited until full capacity is reached. Krisare is a citizen initiative born in Vitoria-Gasteiz that promotes spaces for thought, dialogue, and social commitment from a humanist perspective.
