The Nervión Waterfall, situated in northern Álava, has been named by Viajar magazine as Euskadi's most impressive cascade, boasting a spectacular 250-meter drop.

Waterfalls are unique natural spectacles that inspire awe, and the Nervión Waterfall, located in northern Álava, is a prime example. Viajar magazine, in an article published on its website, has highlighted it as a true gem with a 250-meter drop, considering it the “most impressive waterfall in Euskadi”.
To access this natural wonder, visitors must head to Monte Santiago, one of the area's most frequented spots. The most common option is a seven-kilometer circular route that starts from the Casa del Parque, with parking and a marked path leading to the main viewpoint. This trail is suitable for all types of hikers and allows for views of the waterfall from its upper section, where the water plunges from nearly 300 meters.
There is also a different perspective to admire the waterfall from its base, offering an even more imposing sensation. One of these routes begins in the town of Delika, spanning just over eight kilometers with sections that cross the river. Another alternative is to start the journey from Untzaga, a small rural area that provides access via an eleven-kilometer path, which is less crowded and allows for a more tranquil enjoyment of the surroundings.
It is advisable to check the weather and visit after days of heavy rain to appreciate the waterfall in its full splendor. The entire area of Monte Santiago, beyond the waterfall itself, is a place of incalculable natural and ecological value, surrounded by forests, viewpoints, and trails that form one of Álava's best-preserved treasures. It is located in the eastern part of Sierra Salvada, bordering the region of Las Merindades (Burgos) and the municipality of Orduña (Bizkaia), at an altitude of about 900 meters.
