The Ertzaintza arrested a 30-year-old man in Iruña Oka on Tuesday, accused of attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Araba Penitentiary Center.

Ertzaintza officers arrested a 30-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon, June 2nd, in Iruña Oka. The arrest occurred during prison visiting hours when the individual attempted to introduce narcotic substances into the Araba Penitentiary Center.
Around 5:30 PM, prison staff alerted the Ertzaintza after discovering a pressed brown substance hidden in the sock of a man visiting an inmate, who had displayed suspicious behavior.
Responding Ertzaintza officers secured the scene. A search revealed approximately 100 grams of hashish concealed in the man's clothing. Further inspection of his personal belongings deposited at the entrance lockers uncovered a second package containing about 10 grams of cocaine.
Consequently, the man was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. He was subsequently taken to police facilities for further proceedings before being handed over to judicial authorities.
