The Provincial Treasury estimates that approximately 202,576 individuals will file their IRPF declarations in Álava, with nearly 70% expected to receive a refund. A net balance of 85 million euros is projected in favor of taxpayers.
This campaign is the first since last year's tax review, which introduced a package of measures benefiting 125,705 taxpayers. Notably, these include provisions related to renting a primary residence, applicable to both tenants and landlords. Landlords can receive bonuses of up to 70%, while tenants benefit from a general deduction of 20%, capped at 1,600 euros, which can increase to 35% with a limit of 2,800 euros.
A new development is the increase of the mandatory declaration threshold for employment income to 20,000 euros. This measure is expected to benefit over 12,200 people, with an estimated cost of 6.7 million euros for the provincial coffers.
The campaign will begin tomorrow, April 7th, and conclude on June 25th. The most widely used method will be 'Rentafácil,' where the Treasury prepares proposals for 147,928 taxpayers, representing 73% of the total.
The Provincial Council will send an advisory letter to taxpayers detailing the prepared proposal and its outcome. This can be accepted from April 7th until June 7th, with refunds anticipated within approximately 48 hours. Tenants and property owners can, in the first instance, include the amount paid and apply the deduction for habitual housing rental, and in the second, the amount received as rent.
Another declaration method is 'Rentared,' which allows taxpayers to prepare their declarations from their own computers by downloading the assistance program and accessing it with a digital certificate. The third option, 'Rentaraba,' facilitates declaration submission through agencies and consultancies, as well as at the Provincial Treasury offices in Vitoria, Llodio, and Laguardia.
