This event, scheduled from April 14 to 17, will feature seven theatrical plays and one dance performance in various retail establishments throughout Vitoria-Gasteiz. The sessions will be brief, lasting between ten and 23 minutes, and will be scheduled at three times each afternoon: 6:00 PM, 6:45 PM, and 7:30 PM.
The primary goal of the festival is to invigorate local commerce and highlight the work of neighborhood shops. As explained by councilor Maria Nanclares, transforming stores into artistic venues brings culture closer to citizens while simultaneously promoting businesses in Vitoria-Gasteiz's districts. The festival is supported by the Basque Government as part of its strategy to foster trade and tourism.
“"Transforming stores into artistic venues brings culture closer to citizens while simultaneously promoting businesses in Vitoria-Gasteiz's districts."
The festival will commence on Tuesday with the play Ni arriba ni abajo, about awkward elevator conversations, presented at the Origen store, and a dance performance, Frame, at the Perlasalut space. On Wednesday, technology and artificial intelligence will be the focus at Bodega J. Pérez with Zazpi urte eta erdi, and a life game between two clowns at the ecological store Bioalai with Algo muy tocho.
Thursday's sessions will allow the public to witness the story of two strangers meeting in a laundromat at Boucheruit with Guardar la ropa, as well as a piece on the complex and toxic relationship between a father and daughter at the Paul Paulina store, titled ¿Me dejas darle el biberón?. The cycle will conclude on Friday with two events at the La Puri and Nerimmoon shops: La habitación de los objetos perdidos, a reflection on lost objects and people, and Miradas, an absurd story of a woman afraid of theater. Admission to all performances will be free until full capacity is reached.
