The Basque Government and the ONCE have extended their collaboration agreement for four more years, until 2030, to guarantee specialized educational support for students with blindness or severe visual impairment in Euskadi.

The Department of Education of the Basque Government and the Spanish National Organization of the Blind (ONCE) have agreed to extend their collaboration agreement for another four years. This agreement will allow for the maintenance of specialized support for students with blindness or severe visual impairment enrolled in public schools in Euskadi.
This extension prolongs the validity of the agreement, signed in 2022, until 2030, ensuring the continuity of the specialized services and resources that both institutions provide to students, educational centers, and families.
During the current 2026-2027 academic year, the Resource Centers for the Educational Inclusion of Students with Visual Impairment (CRI) are supporting 448 students in Euskadi: 89 in Araba, 234 in Bizkaia, and 125 in Gipuzkoa. In the previous academic year, these centers served a total of 454 students.
The CRI centers employ 47 teachers and 7 material transcription professionals, in addition to offering specific resources and support. The ONCE, for its part, provides specialized attention in areas such as psychology, rehabilitation, and the use of adapted technologies.
Activities include educational assessment and guidance, early intervention, specialized intervention, and advice to teachers and families, as well as the adaptation of teaching and bibliographic materials and the provision of technological resources.
