Disney has announced that its next 'live action' film, Tangled, will shoot part of its scenes in San Martín de Valparaíso, within the Valdegovía valley in Álava, taking advantage of its unique natural landscapes.

Disney is preparing a new version of the animated film Tangled, this time featuring live actors. A significant portion of this international production will be filmed in Álava, with the Valdegovía valley chosen as one of the locations for shooting scenes.
The Disney team will work in San Martín de Valparaíso, located within the Valdegovía valley. This area is characterized by its tranquility, abundant nature, and low traffic. The landscape combines vertical rock faces, forests, and small streams, all within a secluded environment. The constant presence of two streams helps maintain the green vegetation.
A key point is La Campa, an area recognized among climbers for its limestone walls offering routes of various difficulty levels. This uncrowded location is part of its appeal. However, in recent days, notices have been posted to restrict access to certain areas, and climbing will be prohibited "until further notice."
Valdegovía will be just one part of a much broader filming plan. Disney has organized the shooting of Tangled in several locations across Spain. While Álava will provide the wildest landscapes for scenes set in nature, Girona will be used for urban settings with medieval architecture. A large portion of the technical work will be concentrated in the Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante.
The project is directed by Michael Gracey, and the main cast has already been defined. Diego Luna is the latest addition to the team, known for his role as Cassian Andor in the Star Wars universe. Teaga Croft will play Rapunzel, Milo Manheim will portray Flyn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn will bring the villain Mother Gothel to life. Diego Luna will embody a new character in this adaptation.
