COPE Vitoria Hosts Annual Awards Gala at Artium Museum

The 36th edition honored six prominent figures from the region in business, culture, social action, and sports, in a warm and emotional ceremony.

The Artium Museum in Vitoria hosted the 36th edition of the COPE Vitoria Awards on Thursday, an established event that recognized six leading figures from the Álava region.

The event, held at the Artium Museum, brought together awardees, authorities, and a large audience in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. COPE Vitoria journalists, Elisa López and Roberto Arrillaga, hosted the gala, which centered on the voice, the very soul of radio.
The main award, the COPE Álava Person of the Year Award, went to Perfumería Ibarrondo, a historic business that has remained a benchmark for 75 years. In the Business category, Grupo Suanayes received recognition as a family firm with sustained growth in the construction sector.
The Social Award was presented to Itaka-Escolapios Hogares for its work supporting young migrants aged 18 to 21 at risk of exclusion. Meanwhile, Down Araba Isabel Orbe received the Anniversary Award on its 30th birthday, acknowledging its efforts for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
In the Culture category, the Altraste Danza company was honored for its consolidation as a reference in contemporary dance in Euskadi. In the Sports category, world kickboxing champions Álex “Spartan” Rodríguez and Sergio “Dinamita” Sánchez were recognized for their careers and the values they embody.
The gala featured a significant institutional presence, including the Mayor of Vitoria, Maider Etxebarria, and the General Deputy of Álava, Ramiro González, who highlighted the commitment and contribution of the awardees to the region's development. The evening concluded with a performance by Vitoria-based jazz singer Mónica Durán.
