Alava welcomes pleasant spring weather, reaching 30 degrees, with yellow alerts for high temperatures expected in the coming days.

The territory of Alava has welcomed summer temperatures, following a week that began with almost winter-like cold. Since midday today, thermometers have reached 30 degrees, and residents have taken the opportunity to wear summer clothes and stroll through the center of Vitoria-Gasteiz. For tomorrow and the weekend, temperatures are predicted to rise to 31 degrees, inviting enjoyment of the spring season.
The Department of Security of the Basque Government will activate yellow alerts for very high temperatures tomorrow between 1 PM and 7 PM. Additionally, the Vitoria City Council and the Basque Government emphasize the importance of taking extreme precautions against the predicted high temperatures, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, minors, pregnant women, or patients with chronic illnesses.
Key recommendations include staying well-hydrated, avoiding physical activity and sun exposure during the central hours of the day, wearing light clothing, and staying in cool or shaded places. Furthermore, both institutions remind the public of the need to monitor for symptoms of heat exhaustion or heatstroke, and never to leave people or animals in closed vehicles.
The arrival of good weather is accompanied by numerous outdoor plans. The swimming season at the municipal pools arrives at an opportune moment. Tomorrow, the municipal pools of Mendizorrotza and Gamarra will open their doors to kick off a new season in the Alavese capital. Among the new features available to users at the Mendizorrotza complex since today is the renovation of the footbath area for access to both the pools and the Olympic pool's beach. There's no better way to combat the high temperatures expected in the coming days than a refreshing dip.
Tomorrow also marks the start of the third edition of the City of Flowers festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz, which will run until Sunday and fill the streets, venues, and monuments with a grand display of flowers, aromas, and colors. Today, in Amurrio, the traditional Euskal Jaia will commence, a significant event for folklore enthusiasts, lasting until Sunday. On Sunday, the municipality will celebrate its first Vermuteke, highlighting its historic distilleries.
In the Llanada Alavesa, the festivities will be brought by Jeiki Dantza Taldea, which will transform the town of Agurain into a large stage for Basque dances on Saturday.
