Álava recorded temperatures up to 38 degrees Celsius today, during the year's second heatwave, under a stifling afternoon with minimal wind.

Nearly every corner of Álava exceeded 30 degrees Celsius today, amidst an intense second heatwave. Euskalmet had issued a yellow alert for extreme high temperatures, a forecast that has been confirmed by the readings.
The afternoon was particularly oppressive due to the lack of breeze, which intensified the heat.
The highest temperatures were concentrated in the Ayala Valley, between 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM. The Gardea station, near Laudio, reached 38.0 degrees Celsius, while the Saratxo station in Amurrio recorded 35.5 degrees.
Further south, the Zambrana station registered 35.2 degrees, leading temperatures in the Ebro Valley area. Other regions in Álava also easily surpassed the 30-degree mark.
The only real respite was found at higher altitudes. The lowest maximum temperature was recorded at the Kapildui station, around a thousand meters high, with 26.8 degrees Celsius. Other options included visiting municipal pools or seeking refuge in air-conditioned establishments.
