Following the completion of the works, the Department of Social Policies will manage the furnishing and equipment prior to the service's launch, as announced by the City Council. This final phase is the shortest, with the center's reopening anticipated within a few weeks.
The facility, spanning 891.23 m2 of built area (709.92 m2 usable), has seen an investment of approximately 1.5 million euros to transform the building, over 50 years old. Specifically, improvements include updated space distribution, modernized aesthetics, and significant enhancements in accessibility and energy efficiency.
The building, located on Cuadrilla street in Vitoria-Gasteiz, has operated as a senior center since the late 1970s. During the construction period, its activities were temporarily relocated to a provisional space in Reyes Católicos.
This intervention is part of the Strategic Investment Plan for Neighborhood Regeneration by the Basque Government's Department of Housing and Urban Agenda. It aligns with a key strategic commitment of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council to regenerate the Zaramaga neighborhood socially, environmentally, and urbanistically.
