The municipal creation space, located at San Vicente de Paúl, 21, and managed by the Youth Service of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, will run its offerings from September to December, aiming to foster creativity and artistic expression among young people. Labe will feature four exhibitions and two free workshops.
The Councilor for Youth, Ana López de Uralde, highlights that the new program explores various artistic languages and disciplines, including the history of local graphic design, textile avant-garde, self-publishing, and experimentation with letters and collage. She emphasizes Labe's essence as a meeting point for young people to explore new forms of artistic expression and showcase their projects.
The exhibition program includes four proposals. The first, ‘La técnica condiciona la estética: el desarrollo de la imprenta a través de los carteles de Álava’, will be open from September 19th to October 30th, reviewing the evolution of graphic design and poster art in Álava during the 20th century, with advice from designer Asier Aguayo and collaboration from the Sancho el Sabio Foundation. From November 27th to December 12th, ‘Euskadi Josten’ will focus on proximity textile design, promoted by the collective DUARA LAB. Subsequently, from December 6th to 24th, ‘Gu Gasteiz’ will present works by ten young artists from the city in the queer art sphere, and from December 11th to 23rd, a collective exhibition of visual poetry and writing will be displayed.
The autumn-winter schedule is completed with two workshops. The first, on Creative Writing and Visual Poetry, will take place on November 21st with the participation of bertsolari and poet Oihana Arana and graphic designer Klara Schmidt. The second workshop is scheduled for December 19th, where twelve participants will collectively create illustrations for Labe's official 2027 calendar.
All activities are free of charge, although workshops require prior registration.
