The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council and security forces have evicted homeless individuals who were sleeping at the Jesús Guridi Conservatory, citing health and sanitation concerns.

For the past few months, the Jesús Guridi Conservatory had become a makeshift shelter for around twenty people. The municipal intervention follows ongoing complaints from local residents regarding sanitation and public order in the area.
Those affected have highlighted the lack of available housing alternatives. Social Services have confirmed that all current emergency accommodation and shelters in the city are at full capacity, leaving these individuals with nowhere to go.
While support teams such as the Hurbil service and the Red Cross continue to provide basic aid, resources remain severely strained. The Social Services Department is currently working to convert the former Santa Isabel school into a new shelter, though it is expected that demand will continue to exceed available capacity.
