The objective at the start of the 2025-26 season for the men's first team of Zarautz CE was clear: return to División de Honor Plata. They have achieved this with authority, and the fans of Zarautz wanted to express their gratitude for the immense joy they brought with a popular tribute in Lege Zaharren Enparantza.
The relegation, which had its ups and downs, was a significant blow to a team that had been established for years in the second tier of national handball. However, the decision was made to entrust the technical direction to brothers Mikel and David Kapaxko, and the result could not have been better. They dominated the Primera División league from start to finish, coming within a single point of a perfect season (they drew with Barakaldo when they were already group leaders).
Fortune dictated that the promotion phase would take them to Gran Canaria, where the entire season would be decided in three matchdays. They did not falter: a perfect record with three victories in as many games, and the ticket to División de Honor Plata secured. They were not there for tourism; the goal was to round off the year, and they did so with authority.
Upon their return, the people of Zarautz wanted to thank them for their effort, an enviable season, and months of hard work. The town hall called the community to Lege Zaharren Enparantza on Friday, and the supporters of Amenabar Zarautz did not disappoint.
The arrival of the players and coaching staff parted a sea of people who applauded them enthusiastically. Smiles of gratitude were evident on the faces of the entire team. They proceeded to the town hall's assembly hall, where the mayor addressed them.
The mayor primarily offered thanks for the work done, praising a magnificent campaign with local talent. Afterwards, they appeared on the balconies of the town hall, receiving the warmth of the fans even as a few drops of rain began to fall. The celebration undoubtedly continued long into the night; they deserve it.
