The Sahatsa dance group will celebrate its 50th anniversary this Saturday in Azpeitia, as part of the Azpeitia Dantzan program. 55 dancers and a dozen txistularis will perform a sword dance in the Old Town.

As part of the Azpeitia Dantzan program, the Sahatsa dance group will hold the third event of its 50th anniversary celebration this Saturday in Azpeitia. After previous performances in Urrestilla and Azkoitia, the event will now take place in the town's Old Town. 55 dancers and a dozen txistularis will participate in this performance.
The dancers and txistularis will depart at 19:20 from the Basazabal palace to collect the town's flag from the town hall. Afterwards, they will proceed from Elizkale to the parish church of San Sebastián in Soreasu, where they will perform the sword dance and the flag dance. From there, they will head up Erdikal to the town square, arriving around 20:00, to repeat the dances and present five traditional dances from Gipuzkoa.
To conclude the performance, the town flag will be returned to the town hall, after which the dancers will retire to the Basazabal palace.
This year's Azpeitia Dantzan program consists of four performances. The first was by students from the Luix Beltza school of solo dance and the Juan Antxieta music school on June 27th. On July 5th, the Dantzaki school of ballroom dances by Jose Mari Orbegozoren performed at the Soreasu theater.
The final session will be on the 19th of this month, featuring the Basque culture group Itsasi, at the Soreasu theater starting at 19:00. Admission for the Itsasi performance is free but must be secured in advance through the website Kulturaz.eus.
