This year's San Pedro festivities will kick off on June 26th with the chupinazo (opening rocket) and will continue until the 30th of the month. Throughout these five days, numerous events have been organized in various parts of the town, including a sardine feast, a communal meal, concerts, romerías (traditional Basque folk dances), sports activities, and tributes to net makers and fishermen.
As a special feature this year, the traditional San Pedro festival drum parade will be revived after a long hiatus. It will take place on costume day, and participants are encouraged to come in disguise, with Euskal Telebista (Basque Television) as the main theme. After the parade, participants will have the opportunity to gather in the square for dinner, as the organizers will be providing sandwiches.
The sports offerings will also be extensive. For June 28th, the popular race I. Goiko Karrera has been organized, to be run in teams of four, covering a distance of 1.2 kilometers, with the aim of fostering a festive atmosphere and bringing people together. Additionally, the traditional cronoescalada (timed climb) will also be held this year, organized by the Aldapa cycling club.
On June 28th, Pride Day will be celebrated, with activities for children and young people in the morning and, in the afternoon, sessions of electronic bertsolaris (improvised Basque poetry singers), street parades, and concerts.
The City Council has made it clear that it will not tolerate any form of sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or racist aggression. Therefore, the Puntu Morea (More Point) service will be available in front of the Tourist Office from June 26th to 28th, from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Furthermore, a prevention and information service on alcohol and other drug consumption will be offered on June 28th, from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM, in the square.
We will not tolerate any form of sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or racist aggression.
The program includes numerous events for each day: on Friday, June 26th, there will be a morning gathering for seniors and a 3x3 football tournament, followed by the opening of the stalls and the drum parade in the afternoon. On Saturday, June 27th, Fisherman's Day will be celebrated with a sardine feast, a tribute, and romerías. On Sunday, June 28th, it will be Pride Day, featuring children's games, a cycling climb, and pelota matches. On Monday, June 29th, San Pedro Day will be celebrated with a main mass and a pintxo (tapas) competition. Finally, on Tuesday, June 30th, the II. San Pedro Challenge and traditional Basque sports (Herri Kirolak) will take place.
