Orio Arraunketa Elkartea Dominates Gipuzkoa Trainerilla Championships

Both the men's and women's teams from Orio Arraunketa Elkartea have claimed victory in the Gipuzkoa Trainerilla Championship, capping off an outstanding season.

The teams of Orio Arraunketa Elkartea have concluded an excellent season, demonstrating their dominance in the Gipuzkoa Trainerilla Championship, in both men's and women's categories, during the races held in Mutriku.

The Gipuzkoa trainerilla league recently concluded with its sixth round held in Hondarribia, and the rowers from Orio Arraunketa Elkartea (OAE) achieved excellent results. In the men's category, the Orio A team was crowned league champion, while the women's team secured a silver medal. Furthermore, in the Gipuzkoa Cup, the Orio B team emerged victorious, with Orio C finishing in second place.
Following the league, the Gipuzkoa Trainerilla Championships took place in the waters of Mutriku, where Orio also triumphed in both categories. In the men's event, Orio secured the victory with a time of 13:26.91, with Getaria finishing second 11 seconds behind. Hondarribia claimed third place 14 seconds later, and Kaiarriba was fourth, 26 seconds back.
In the women's category, Orio had a three-second lead over San Juan, recording a time of 15:20.28, while San Juan posted 15:23.89. Zumaia finished in third place with a time of 15:32.31.

According to the club, this marks the first time the Orio women's team has won this championship. Additionally, Maider Etxaniz, the coxswain for Orio, received the award for the best turn. The rowers' next engagement will be in Ondarroa (Bizkaia) next weekend, where the Basque Country Championships for this modality will be held. Subsequently, the Spanish Championships will also take place in Castro (Cantabria).
