The San Salvador Festivals in Getaria will be held from August 5th to 9th, until next Sunday. In this edition, the 50th anniversary of the Getaria Rowing Club will hold significant importance, as it will be the protagonist of the midnight firecracker launch.
The festivals are organized annually thanks to the collaboration of the entire town, with the efforts of local associations, stakeholders, volunteers, and town hall staff. The Getaria Town Council has expressed its gratitude to all participants and invited citizens to enjoy the festivities in an atmosphere of respect and good coexistence.
The Getaria Rowing Club (GAE) celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and will hold a place of honor at the opening ceremony. Representatives from GAE will be responsible for raising the flag from the town hall balcony and officially commencing the celebrations.
The program includes several new features for all ages. There will be water inflatables, offering the chance to enjoy the port waters, the historic Elkanoren Lehorreratzea spectacle, a running of the bulls event, and a popular batel (small boat) race, among other novelties.
Alongside the new events, traditional successful activities will continue: pelota tournaments, marmitako and potato omelet cooking contests, concerts, street entertainment, children's activities, and popular lunches, among others. For five days, the streets of Getaria will be filled with music, culture, and a festive atmosphere.
