Getaria will host a high-level rowing event this Sunday with the Eusko Label League and Euskotren League regattas. In the year that the Getariako Arraun Elkartea is celebrating its 50th anniversary, Ion Larrañaga's team will compete at home.
The elite of rowing will gather in the waters of Getaria, guaranteeing an exceptional spectacle and atmosphere. The official presentation of this main championship took place at the Ameztoi Winery, where the flags for the upcoming races were unveiled.
After the issues experienced last weekend in Ondarroa, the team showed a good performance in Hondarribia, finishing in fourth place. They also hold this position in the overall standings and will compete in the main heat in Pasai Doniban on Saturday. If things go well, they will also be in the main heat at home on Sunday.
Fans are gearing up for the event, and a special gathering has been organized for Sunday morning. The 'Marea Marroia' (Brown Tide) call invites all citizens to meet at the main square at 11:00 AM, from where they will descend together to the pier to enjoy the regatta.
The atmosphere will be excellent at all times, as the path from the square to the pier will be enlivened by txistularis (Basque pipers), members of the town band, and trikitilaris (Basque accordion players), dressing the streets of Getaria in color and animation.
