Eight Euskotren League Boats to Start Season in Madrid

They will compete in the Buitrago del Lozoya reservoir for the Isabel II Canal - 175th Anniversary flag, before racing in Cantabrian and Atlantic waters.

The eight boats competing in this year's Euskotren League have been confirmed: Astillero, Donostia Arraun Lagunak, Nortindal Donostiarra, Hibaika, Orio, San Juan, Tolosaldea, and Zumaia.

The league's first challenge will be held away from the sea, in the reservoir of Buitrago del Lozoya (Madrid). There, they will vie for the Isabel II Canal - 175th Anniversary flag. Following the starting gun, the rowers will have no respite, facing two race days each weekend.
The championship will take place in the waters of the Cantabrian and Atlantic, spanning the Basque Country, Cantabria, and Galicia. The competition will conclude on the weekend of August 22-23 in Zarautz, when this year's trophy winner will be determined.
During the pre-season, Donostia Arraun Lagunak has shown its readiness to defend its title, having won the championships of Gipuzkoa, Euskadi, and Spain. Aiora Belartieta is one of the team's members, having been with the club for seven years and winning four leagues.
Additionally, the other Donostia crew will also feature local talent; Enara Arruti will compete in Bantxa, marking her second year with the team from Lasarte-Oria.

Euskotren League boats have their first meeting in Madrid

Before the league began, on the 19th of this month, the presentation gala for the Eusko Label and Euskotren Leagues was held in Donostia at the Aquarium. Among the protagonists were the champions of the 2025 season. Rowers from Donostia Arraun Lagunak received the replica of the Euskotren Trophy, while those from Orio Orialki received the CaixaBank crown.
