The company Elmubas Petfood Group, located in Azpeitia, has received the Adegi award for Sustainable Development for its commitment to social, governance, and environmental principles.

The business association of Gipuzkoa recently presented several awards at an event held in Donostia. At this ceremony, the plant situated in the Antzibarrena industrial estate in Landeta received one of these accolades. Elmubas has been recognized for conducting its business activities while considering principles related to the social sphere, good governance, and the environment.
At the event, the award was accepted on behalf of the company by Leire Alkorta and Nerea Filgueira. Elmubas produces dry pet food for dogs and cats and currently employs over 200 people. It is a leading company in its sector in Europe, with more than 30 years of experience.
The company's ownership has changed hands over time. The former Piensos Bastida was acquired by Portobello Capital in 2019, and in 2020, plant expansion works were carried out. Last February, the investment fund put the company up for sale.
Furthermore, between late 2025 and early 2026, employees and the management board were in conflict. Five workers were dismissed for calling for union elections within the company. Following various mobilizations, they succeeded in establishing a workers' committee in January.
