The homage took place in Txerloia, before the main men's team of Anaitasuna played against Deusto. Players from various categories of Anaitasuna formed a guard of honor on the field to welcome the footballer. The Azkoitian player entered the pitch with the Copa del Rey, accompanied by Mayor Ana Azkoitia and Anaitasuna President Ibon Osinalde.

At the center of the field, Osinalde presented the player with an Anaitasuna jersey bearing his name, municipal representatives gave him a bouquet of flowers and a souvenir, and he received a painting from the dancers. During the event, Javier Sagarzazu was also remembered, as he too had won the Spanish Copa del Rey with Real Sociedad against Atlético de Madrid at Zaragoza's Romareda stadium in 1987.

One of Sagarzazu's relatives was present at the tribute and received a bouquet of flowers. After the gifts, the dancers performed an aurresku, and Eneritz Artetxe sang several verses. To conclude the tribute, members of the music group Eraldatzen took to the field to premiere the song they dedicated to Anaitasuna.
