Eloy Corchero, Julen Kañamares, and Oier Mitxelena Qualify for Basque Duathlon Championship Final

The three athletes who competed in the Berastegi qualifier will vie for the title in the Tolosa final on June 7th.

Basque athlete Eloy Corchero, alongside Navarrese competitors Julen Kañamares and Oier Mitxelena, have successfully qualified this Saturday in Berastegi for the Basque Duathlon Championship final.

The final event is scheduled for June 7th at the bullring in Tolosa. Participants faced the challenge of cutting a 45-inch log vertically, another of the same size horizontally, and completing a 500-meter run, repeating this task twice.
Corchero achieved the best time with 11:46, finishing just one second ahead of Julen Kañamares (11:47) and significantly ahead of Mitxelena (12:09).

The final will take place on June 7th in Tolosa.

The remaining qualifiers included Xuban Kañamares (12:29), Ander Altuna (14:02), Urtzi Olasagasti (15:37), and Mikel Indakoetxea (16:08). Emilio García, Unai Valverde, Markel Iturralde, Mikel Santesteban, and Dani López were disqualified from the competition.
The second qualifying round will take place next Saturday in Zumarraga. The top three finishers from Berastegi, along with the top three from Zumarraga, will compete for the championship title, facing strong contenders such as Julen Alberdi, Ugaitz Mugerza, Eneko Saralegi, Xabier Zaldua, Ibai Soroa, and Oier Kañamares.
