The general director for Linguistic Equality of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will deliver a lecture titled 'The Present and Future of the Basque Language' this Wednesday, May 13, at Berastegi Town Hall. The event will start at 7:00 PM and will be open to anyone interested in the topic.
This conference-discussion, organized by EAJ-PNV, will provide an opportunity to learn about the diagnosis and strategy of Basque institutions regarding this issue. It will also serve to assess the risks and opportunities presented by the current state of the Basque language.
“"What is the smartest and most effective strategy for the future of the Basque language? What is the most appropriate way to expand and extend the social universe of knowledge and use of the Basque language?"
The speaker will attempt to answer these two questions and encourage reflection on the topic among attendees. This event is part of the program of thematic and sectoral activities that EAJ-PNV is organizing in Tolosaldea. The first session was held two weeks ago in Ibarra, and in the coming weeks, events will reach other towns in the region, such as Berrobi or Ikaztegieta.
The objective of these sessions is to provide society with direct information on topics of great interest and current relevance, as well as to create conditions to foster citizen participation.
