Iñaki López emerged victorious last Saturday in Elburgo, at the second edition of the Gasteizko Proba for U23 and elite cyclists, a race counting towards the Torneo Euskaldun.

The Navarrese rider from the Finisher team proved fastest in the final sprint, beating Ander Otegi and Aimar Galdós. This marks his second win of the season and his second in a row, having also won in Villamediana de Iregua the previous week.
The first Alavese rider to finish was Erlantz Alday, crossing the line in fourth place. The event, which started on Extremadura street in Vitoria-Gasteiz, covered 141 kilometers with 148 participants. The climb of Argómaniz was the only significant elevation gain of the afternoon, contributing to a high-paced race.
Despite the speed, there were breakaway attempts. The most significant involved six cyclists and kept the main peloton on edge for a large portion of the route. They were caught with six kilometers remaining, at which point the Navarrese team worked diligently to secure another success. López lived up to his teammates' efforts, showcasing his sprinting speed once again, mirroring his performance seven days prior in the Rioja region.

Iñaki López achieves his second consecutive victory of the season.

In other news, another Alavese cyclist, Jon Conejero, secured second place in the fourth and final stage of the Vuelta a Navarra in Allo. While Diego Ruiz de Arcaute had won the second stage, Conejero narrowly missed his first win with the Smartlog team. After a break following a third-place finish in the overall Copa de España, Conejero returned to competition with positive sensations in Navarra. The Gipuzkoan team also benefited from the performance of Markel Olabe, who finished seventh overall in the Navarra tour. Several of these riders are now focusing on the Spanish Championships in Sabiñanigo later this month, with upcoming races in the Basque calendar such as Segura, Irún, and Tolosa.
