Cañaveras Solar, S.L. has withdrawn its plans to construct two solar plants in Salvatierra and Iruraiz-Gauna (Álava). The necessary modifications to meet environmental requirements have resulted in the "supervening non-viability" of these projects.

The Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) published resolutions this Thursday from the territorial delegate for Industry, Energy Transition, and Sustainability in Álava, accepting Cañaveras Solar's request to close the files for the 'Ubalza II' and 'FV Ubalza' photovoltaic plants.

In the first instance, the developer is withdrawing because environmental reports from the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Álava mandated a reduction in the occupied surface area and, consequently, the installed power capacity, leading to the "supervening non-viability of continuing the project's processing".

For the second park, the withdrawal is due to the fact that it would be "technically and economically unviable" to meet the requirements of the environmental impact assessment.
