A new band, composed of veteran musicians, shared their thoughts on returning to live performances before a concert at Bilbao's Kafe Antzokia, marking the beginning of a new project.
It is not easy to return to the stage, especially for musicians with one of the most solid careers in rock and roll. Three years ago, on a pleasant summer afternoon, a musician expressed that they still had many dreams to fulfill, although at times they felt none.
Time disrupted what was established, and the musician had to take a break. Now, a “rebirth” of enthusiasm gives its name to a new project, formed by a strong amalgamation of musicians. Among them, former members of Extremoduro, along with other collaborators, whose compositional and vocal versatility has become a fundamental support for this artistic resurgence with an almost Bizkaian accent.
“"As footballers say, an injection of energy. I think it happens to anyone that when we start a new project, a new dream, it can be a personal project, it can be a relationship, it can be a work project, it can be artistic, it can be that you are going to paint a room… You are excited, you have something to do, you have a reason to get out of bed and it feels very good."
The return to Kafe Antzokia, where more than three decades ago a band recorded part of one of their albums, was presented as a demanding test. In the hours leading up to the concert in the emblematic Bilbao venue, the tension was palpable. The musicians took the opportunity to share impressions before going on stage, all sharing the feeling of starting anew.
The band members have indicated that composition is shared among them and that they intend to continue creating new songs. Furthermore, they have highlighted the positive reception from the audience during live performances, which encourages them to continue. The group's ambition is to create more songs and reach people with themes that resonate with them.
“"Nostalgia is fine as long as it is not abused, like everything, like any substance. We recorded part of an album here, it was great in other times and what is happening now is something else. It's awesome, but we have to keep renewing ourselves, we have to keep moving forward."
