An homage will be paid on June 13th in Leintz Gatzaga to the historic 1960 cycling pilgrimage to Rome undertaken by the Serrano brothers and José Luis Sáenz de Olazagoitia.

In the summer of 1960, brothers Luis and Ángel Serrano from Bilbao, along with José Luis Sáenz de Olazagoitia from Vitoria-Gasteiz, embarked on a bicycle journey from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Rome. They carried in their saddlebags a petition to declare the Virgen de Dorleta the patron saint of cyclists, which they delivered to the Vatican.
This feat, which has become a symbol of Basque cycling, will be commemorated at the homage event on June 13th in Leintz Gatzaga.
