The Catalan coach, who joined his current team at the end of March, has managed to string together three consecutive victories, making salvation possible with one game remaining in the regular season.
The latest success, achieved in an agonizingly close finish against Eroskpor with a score of 82-83, was celebrated wildly by the coach. He first climbed onto a publicity cube to celebrate with the team's traveling fans and later took a family photo with them and some of his players, who also subjected him to a water shower during his post-game television interview.
“"Very happy for these guys. I've only been here with them for a month, but they have worked incredibly hard after a very tough year. I haven't been here long and I'm fresher, but what they have done has been spectacular. I'm also very happy for the club; they make me feel very comfortable in my job."
Before this decisive victory against Eroskpor, which guaranteed another season in the top Turkish basketball league, the team had secured two other wins: against Mersin (84-86) on the road and at home against Buyukcekmece (91-72). These results allowed them to move away from the dangerous zone and reach ten wins, making it impossible for Pinar Karsiyaka, the second-to-last placed team, to overtake them.
This experience at Bursaspor marks the coach's second stint abroad, following his time coaching Barça during the 2023-24 season. In November, he took charge of Dinamo Bucharest, but his tenure in Romanian basketball was not particularly successful, and both parties parted ways in March of last year.
