The Basque Government Health Department and Osakidetza will begin renovation and expansion works at the Sondika health center this September, backed by a 4.3 million euro investment.

The project will utilize land provided by the Sondika City Council, located next to the current facility. The existing building, which opened in 1993, covers 275 square meters and has become inadequate for the municipality's population of over 4,500 people.
The new three-story building will be integrated with the current structure, providing a total usable area of approximately 1,328 square meters. This expansion will quintuple the available space and double healthcare capacity, adding services such as pediatric care, midwifery, and a gymnasium.
Construction is expected to last two years, with the facility scheduled to be fully operational by January 2029 once the necessary equipment is installed.
