The Sestao City Council and the Basque Government have concluded their Sustainable Tourism Plan following final works at the La Benedicta dock, supported by a total investment of 2.7 million euros.

The three-year initiative aims to establish Sestao as a major destination for industrial tourism in Euskadi. The project received over 2.1 million euros in funding from the European Union's NextGenerationEU program, channeled through the Basque Government.
Key improvements at La Benedicta include a new pier to facilitate river access for visitors, a viewing balcony, and a pavilion dedicated to the town's industrial history.
Additional works involve the expansion of the Cuarto de Socorro to create exhibition spaces and upgrades to the Horno Alto lighting, alongside preparations for future augmented reality and videomapping experiences.
