The production company Mundo Cero has taken a new step in the audiovisual field by setting up a physical space in a building on La Antigua avenue: Mundo Cero Etxea. This project was presented last Friday as "a new space dedicated to audiovisual training, creation, and post-production".
Among those present at the launch were Ibon Cormenzana, head of the Mundo Cero production company, and Ainara Basurko, provincial deputy for Economic Promotion of Bizkaia. They both stated that the new project aims to "contribute to the development of the film industry, foster talent, and create new economic and employment opportunities in rural areas".
Mundo Cero defines itself as "a social impact production company," and the center launched in Urduña aims to contribute to this philosophy. "Mundo Cero Etxea has been created with the aim of promoting local and international talent, supporting educational activities, creative residencies, and audiovisual projects," they explained.
The training activities are already underway: in the coming weeks, the center will host new workshops led by renowned professionals such as filmmaker Pablo Berger and Victor Gay Zaragoza, an expert in AI and storytelling. Training in key areas like sound, with Fabiola Ordoyo, and editing, with Guillermo de la Cal, will soon be added.
The project seeks to attract talent to Urduña by "creating an environment for learning, creation, and exchange around audiovisual content that will have a societal impact".
This initiative is part of the Bilbao Bizkaia audiovisual hub announced by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia last March. The council plans an investment of 4.6 million euros to adapt the buildings and land of the former María deaccompanied school to promote the sector's development.
Mayor Iker Santocildes stated that this project represents an opportunity for Urduña to revitalize the municipality's economic and cultural activity, "linking our town to a strategic sector and creating new opportunities for citizens".
