Tensions rose at Bilbao airport this Saturday as members of the Global Sumud Flotilla arrived from Turkey. The situation escalated when supporters gathered at the terminal to welcome them clashed with Ertzaintza officers on duty.
According to the Department of Security, police units intervened and carried out several identifications. The four detainees face charges of serious disobedience, resistance, and assault on law enforcement officers.
The activists' return had been delayed as some members of the delegation required hospitalization for injuries sustained during their detention in international waters.
