A total of 364 new agents received their diplomas and credentials at the Euskal Polizia Academy in Arkaute, during the 5th joint promotion ceremony.

At an institutional ceremony held at the Euskal Polizia Academy in Arkaute, 364 new agents received their diplomas and credentials as part of the 5th joint promotion of the Euskal Polizia. The event was attended by Lehendakari Imanol Pradales, Security Councillor Bingen Zupiria, EUDEL President Esther Apraiz, and Director of the Basque Police and Emergency Academy Jon Goikolea.
Lehendakari Imanol Pradales emphasized the importance of security, stating that "the Basque people have always been clear that they want to place the guarantee of their security in the hands of their own police force." He praised the commitment, professionalism, and respect of the new agents towards the institution, assuring them that "this Government will always be by your side."
The promotion consists of 364 individuals, distributed as follows: 5 for Citizen Protection of the Ertzaintza; 135 specializing in Criminal Investigation of the Ertzaintza; 73 specializing in Road Safety of the Ertzaintza; and 151 positions for local police officers who will serve in 29 municipalities.
The average age of the promotion is 30.4 years, with 35.5% women and 64.5% men. Furthermore, 87.9% have certified a B2 level or higher in Euskera.
Citizen Protection agents (Ertzaintza and Udaltzaingoa) have already begun their practical training in their assigned posts, while those specializing in Road Safety and Criminal Investigation will start in the coming days. From now on, they will undergo 12 months of 'in-job' learning, with continuous evaluation. Upon successful completion of this period and with the approval of their evaluators, they will become fully qualified civil servants.
Representing her peers, student Eider Gomez Márquez spoke, stating, "we will always carry within us the commitment to justice and respect for social and coexistence values." Following the tradition of choosing a bird as a symbol for each promotion, the 5th joint promotion has selected the European bee-eater.
The ceremony was particularly significant for several families, symbolizing a generational handover within the Euskal Polizia. As is customary, officers from various Ertzaintza units opened the graduation parade. This year, officers whose sons and daughters are part of this promotion were given the opportunity to join this group. Six of the officers who donned the gala uniform are parents of graduates who will begin their practical training next week.
